Watch Ruben Wan put the “amazing” Focusrite Clarett+ 2Pre audio interface to the test
The company’s newest edition of their Clarett range combines two mic/line/instrument combi inputs with ADAT expandability, four line outputs and much more
Focusrite has long been a leader in studio-quality USB audio interfaces, and its new Clarett+ 2Pre is the most impressive audio interface in the Clarett range to date.
The 10-in, four-out unit features two high-quality mic pres, 124dB dynamic range on the output, and ADAT expandability for adapting your channel count to bigger recording sessions.
Additionally, there’s an “Air” mode with impedance switching, offering new color to your mics and adding high-end detail, and a high bandwidth, ultra-low distortion design that allows you to capture incredible sound, no matter the setup.
And if you want to hear that studio-quality sound? Check out guitarist and songwriter Ruben Wan’s demo video above, in which he puts the Clarett+ 2Pre through its paces.
“Throughout the video I’m going to be testing out different recording setups so you can see how the Focusrite performs in different scenarios,” Wan says.
Additionally, he provides A/B examples to allow you to hear the difference between the raw takes with no effects and how the guitar sounds post-processing via the Clarett+ interface.
The result, as Ruben makes clear, is a richer, most present and incredibly dynamic sound.

“The new Clarett+ 2Pre is a great all-around interface,” Ruben concludes. “It’s great for multi-instrumentalists that want to record vocals or guitars, whether it’s miked or just straight into the box. And because the preamps sound so great you can literally record anything with it.
"I think the Clarett+ 2Pre is an amazing, amazing interface.”
