Watch Paul Riario try out D’Addario’s new telescopic XPND pedalboard, the first-ever ’board that ‘adapts to you’
Innovative, patented design easily adjusts to increase or decrease the size of your board in an instant
As we all know, when it comes to guitar pedals, there’s no such thing as too many. The only problem with unfettered stompbox acquisition, however, is that you eventually run out of space for them on your pedalboard.
At least, this used to be a problem. Say hello to D’Addario’s XPND, the first-ever pedalboard that adapts to you. Via patented telescoping technology, you can easily adjust the length of the board to add and arrange pedals however you want. The result is the perfect fit, every time, for a pedalboard you’ll never outgrow.
The XPND boasts aircraft-quality aluminum rails that adjust in and out in seconds, and is available in one-row (XPND 1) and two-row (XPND 2) configurations, with the XPND 1 dimensions measuring 14” - 24.75” (extension range) x 5.85” x 2.57” and the XPND 2 dimensions measuring 17.25” - 31.75” (extension range) x 12.8” x 3.9”.
And it’s not just the board’s length that’s variable – there’s also adjustable feet on the bottom, allowing you to keep your pedals balanced on uneven stages. Additionally, the XPND includes D’Addario’s own cable-management system, as well as hook-and-loop Velcro to keep everything neat and orderly.
But wait – there’s even more. D’Addario also offers an optional Pedal Riser for elevating individual pedals that may be hard to access, as well as a Backline Pedalboard Transporter for both models, with customizable partitions that easily adjust to create a snug and secure fit for any sized XPND and storage space for cables and accessories.
For all of its features and flexibility, the XPND is also extremely easy to set up, as Guitar World Tech Editor Paul Riario demonstrates in this video. D’Addario, he says, “provides you with all the necessary parts and instructions to assemble this pedalboard quickly and easily.” And indeed, Paul then assembles it incredibly quickly and easily.
His final verdict? “The D’Addario XPND pedalboard is an impressively adaptable and rugged design that allows you to easily adjust the length of your board to add, subtract and rearrange your pedals however you want and whenever you want, and finally, to firmly lock it into place.”
Paul continues, “For all that versatility and having a cable management system to keep it all tidy, it’s like having a pedalboard that works with you and makes it a total must-have.”
If you ‘must have’ one for yourself, head over to D’Addario now.
