Watch Jimmy Franklin unbox and review the LAVA ME 4 Carbon and Spruce – two new models that take LAVA Music’s innovative design to all new heights
The new innovative instruments get a significant upgrade, complete with updated operating systems, improved builds and more, which all improve the guitars’ creativity, versatility and durability
LAVA Music’s name often comes up during conversations surrounding the modernization of the acoustic guitar, and for good reason.
Over the past few years, LAVA Music has been at the cutting edge of guitar innovation, releasing a suite of powerful, feature-packed and touchscreen-equipped instruments that redefine what is capable with an acoustic.
Now, the company has reached new heights with the all-new LAVA ME 4 – a collection of upgraded guitars that are the ultimate all-in-one stop for creativity, versatility and durability.
Two versions of the new acoustic have launched the range – the LAVA ME 4 Carbon and LAVA ME 4 Spruce, both of which introduce a host of game-changing new features and functional developments that take the LAVA Music range to new heights.
In the video below, you can watch YouTuber, guitarist and influencer Jimmy Franklin unbox and review both models.
There are a few key updates that set the LAVA ME 4 Carbon guitar apart from its predecessors. In terms of build, a new truss rod structure is utilized in the carbon fiber guitar for increased strength and tuning stability while maintaining stiffness and reliability, with an enhanced FreeBoost 3.0 system offering larger, deeper effects sounds.
This model also comes loaded with an advanced Sharc DSP audio chip, which recruits a 32-bit floating point processor to deliver seven-times fast audio-digital signal processing so you can process effects without a hitch.
Speaking of effects, the LAVA ME 4 Carbon comes loaded with the HILAVA 2.0 system. Available as an update for older LAVA Music models, the new operating software (accessed through the touchscreen) has a refreshed feel and look, with a greater emphasis on collaboration and community.
Some highlights of the system include the Improv feature in the Create App – through which you can explore hundreds of backing tracks to jam along to, record over and respond to other players wirelessly – as well as the Learn App, Effects App and LiveDrums App. The latter two can also be controlled by floor-based pedals, as explained in the video above.
“That’s so good looking,” Jimmy says in his unboxing, which includes demos of multiple different effects. “It’s cool as hell. I've been playing with this for a total of 10 minutes, and I’m already able to access all this, which is absolutely incredible.”
The LAVA ME 4 Carbon is joined by the Spruce version – a more conventionally-flavored version that offers a spruce top and HPL back and sides. It’s the ideal choice for those looking to harness LAVA Music’s innovative features while retaining a traditional aesthetic, with the guitar also offering full HILAVA 2.0 capability.
“All in all these are really sweet guitars that are just insane learning tools, insane gigging tools, insane creativity tools,” Jimmy concludes. “You could take this thing absolutely anywhere, and above all, for something that is so modern and so sophisticated, it was so easy for me to use right out of the box. It’s a great thing for any musician of any level to try out.”
