Watch guitar ace Nili Brosh crank it up with the new Blackstar Dept. 10 valve-loaded pedals

Blackstar is known for making some of the most advanced – and best-sounding – amps on the market. So it’s no surprise that when the company recently unveiled its line of Dept. 10 effects, the range was heralded as “the world’s most advanced valve pedals.”

Each pedal in the collection – which consists of the Dept. 10 Boost, Dual Drive and Dual Distortion –  features an ECC83 triode and runs off more than 200V to deliver studio-quality performance and genuine tube amp tones, complete with organic dynamics, tone and break up.

The Dual Drive, true to its name, boasts two channels, each with its own Gain and Level, as well as a three-band EQ. The Boost pedal, meanwhile, features Boost, Low and High knobs, as well as a bypass switch, and the Dual Distortion sports four clean and distortion voices selected by two toggles that have individual Level and Gain parameters.

“These pedals are really simple and easy to use and have a lot of cool features,” says guitar phenom Nili Brosh is the accompanying demo video. “You can get a multitude of different tones with different gain levels out of them, so any need you would have for overdrive and distortion are covered. These go really across the gamut.”

Furthermore, “they have Cab Rig outputs in addition to their regular outputs so you can go straight to the front of the house or to headphones or to your FR monitor, or anything that you need DI for.”

Additionally, Nili continues, “Another thing I really like about Blackstar is their ISF tone knobs. They color the sound quite a bit and we’re going to hear that.”

And hear it we do, with Nili trying out some crunchy Zeppelin riffs and creamy, overdriven Iron Maiden licks using the Dept. 10 pedals.

Then she pulls out all the stops, employing the pedals in the service of her original song, Desert Déjà Vu.
