Sixty-watt combo boasts a wealth of realistic tones via proprietary TransTube circuitry, incredible programming flexibility and much more

The new amp is the middle child – or as Guitar World Tech Editor Paul Riario puts it, the “Goldilocks version” – of the three different combo formats of Peavey’s impressive and innovative VYPYR series of guitar modeling amplifiers. The VYPYR X1 is a 30-watt, 1x8 combo, while the X3 is a 100-watt, 1x12 combo. The VYPYR X2, in comparison, is 1x12 combo that offers up a comfortable 60 watts of power.
The heart of the VYPYR is its use of Peavey’s proprietary analog TransTube circuitry, which, Paul says, “noticeably delivers an organic feel to the overdriven and higher gain tones.” You also get 36 selectable on-board amp models and 12 premium stompboxes. If that’s not enough, there’s also six acoustic guitar and six bass guitar models, along with 24 digital effects.
Other features include variable instrument input, universal delay and reverb, a headphone jack, a 12" custom-voiced heavy-duty speaker, 16 user assignable presets, a 3.5mm aux in for connecting external audio sources, an on-board looper with optional Sanpera footswitch and much, much more.

Additionally, all the functions are accessible from the top of the amp, and you can also control the X2 via Bluetooth on your iOS device via the free VYPYR app.
