Shadows Fall Forms New Record Label; Lynyrd Skynyrd Signs with Roadrunner
Shadows Fall have announced the formation of their own label in conjunction with Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group and Ferret Music. The band will release their 6th studio album this fall. More details coming soon.
Lead singer Brian Fair has this to say about his band's new venture:
"All of us in Shadows Fall could not be more excited about our new working relationship with ILG and Ferret Records. We have always been a band that tried to maintain as much control over our career as possible and this new deal gives us just that. The music industry is changing drastically and to stay one step ahead we knew we needed a new business model and perspective. By combining the forces of ILG, Ferret Music and Channel Zero we have created a "Justice League of Metal"!!
Shadows Fall boast an impressive resume including two Grammy nominations; Best Metal Performance for "Redemption" off Threads of Life in 2008 and "What Drives the Weak" off The War Within in 2006. The band has sold upwards of 1 million units worldwide. They've graced dozens of magazine covers including Revolver, Decibel, Outburn, Metal Edge (RIP) and Metal Maniacs (RIP) while being championed by Rolling Stone, Spin, Alternative Press, Guitar World and Hit Parader.

In other label news, Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records have announced the signing of a worldwide deal with Lynyrd Skynyrd. The band is at work in Nashville recording a new album to be released later this year. This will be the first set of new studio material since 2003’s Vicious Cycle.
Singer Johnny Van Zant comments, "Skynyrd has been with a lot of labels over the years and we are excited to be reunited with one of the best, Tom Lipsky and his new label Loud & Proud. We're busy putting the finishing touches on our next record being produced by Bob Marlette and can't wait for the fans to hear it." He goes on to say, "Our brother Billy Powell recorded 6 tracks before his sudden passing and we are confident he'd be very happy with the end result. We're all really proud of this record and who better to put it out than Loud & Proud!"

Signing Lynyrd Skynyrd marks a landmark deal for Loud & Proud, whose roster currently includes Collective Soul and Sammy Hagar. "Very few artists have had the impact on music that Lynyrd Skynyrd have had. We are proud that they are putting their trust in Loud & Proud Records to continue their incredible legacy," says Tom Lipsky, President.
2009 marks a key point in Lynyrd Skynyrd’s storied career. The band has enjoyed continued success and visibility in the past few years including a recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Their American rock anthem "Sweet Home Alabama" has passed the 2 million mark in downloaded ringtones. Their last single, "Red White & Blue," reached #1 on the Rock Charts. Last summer, the band co-headlined one of the most successful tours of the year with their good friend Kid Rock. High profile appearances, including the show closer at last year’s VH1 Fashion Rocks helped to expose the band to a younger audience. With a catalog of over 60 albums and sales beyond 30 million, Lynyrd Skynyrd remains a major cultural icon that appeals to all generations.
Roadrunner President Jonas Nachsin adds, "We at Roadrunner are thrilled to be associated with Lynyrd Skynyrd as they move forward in a beyond storied career. This partnership between two powerhouse rock brands has just ignited."
