Satriani and Vai Heat Up Grammy Pre-Show
Steve Vai reprised his role as emcee of the Grammy Awards pre-telecast this year, where many of the more technical and obscure awards are handed out. Joe Satriani, nominated for the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category, was also in attendance and the two friends and masters got up and wowed the audience of about 2,500 with an amazing rendition of Joe’s “Super Colossal”.
Said Vai on his website, “I told the audience that Joe and I grew up together, and played together as young teenagers and that he was my teacher and that we had been through a lot over the years but to be up there playing together for them, a song Joe was nominated for, was truly a privilege. And it surely was.”
