Donner’s innovative Rising-G Pro is a carbon-fiber acoustic that sounds great and is built to last
Compact, travel-friendly guitar boasts carbon fiber panels, HPL fingerboard, parametric soundhole design and more
When it comes to acoustic guitars, you may think you’ve seen it all. But then you haven’t seen the Donner Rising-G Pro. Almost entirely doing away with wood, the new Rising-G is a carbon-fiber-built six string that’s also compact, travel-friendly and incredibly dependable.
The allure of carbon-fiber guitars, explains Guitar World Tech Editor Paul Riario, “is simple. They’re easy to maintain because of their rigidity and durability, and they also retain stability because they are generally immune to humidity or temperature changes. What you have is a guitar that remains pretty much consistent in playability.”
As far as materials, the Rising-G Pro is built using an “innovative new manufacturing technique” that allows for a thinner and more durable instrument. Specs include Japanese T800 carbon fiber panels, a three-piece neck design with a HPL (high-pressure laminate) fingerboard and a parametric soundhole design.
And after spending some time with the guitar, Paul says, “it does possess excellent stability and a comfortable playing feel.”
But what really makes the guitar stand out, he continues, is the proprietary A-type bracing that mimics the sound of an acoustic guitar. Combined with the cutting-edge “barrel” design, it provides a layered fullness and higher resonance similar to the traditional properties of an acoustic made from tonewoods.
What’s also cool, Paul points out, is that the Rising-G Pro comes with a travel-ready gig bag and accessories pack with a tuner, capo, truss rod adjustment wrench, picks and strap.
“As a midrange-priced acoustic guitar, the Donner Rising-G Pro is a worthy choice that’s comparable to a lot of other travel-friendly and smaller-sized acoustics,” Paul says. “It has a surprisingly full sound and brighter tones, and you also get all the benefits of carbon fiber construction.”
What’s more, “the Rising-G Pro is practically impervious to cracking or warping making it an ideal guitar to take anywhere with you. If that’s not enough you’ll totally dig its light weight and easy playability.”
