Cort’s freshly-designed KX700 EverTune is an “audacious” six-string with cutting-edge looks and aggressive tones
New KX flagship model boasts deep body cuts, Nazgûl and Sentient humbuckers, EverTune bridge and much more
Cort has called its new KX flagship model, the KX700 EverTune, its “most daring KX Series guitar yet,” and here at Guitar World we’d have to agree. As GW Tech Editor and resident gear guru Paul Riario states, “You‘ll know right away once you pick up this KX700 EverTune it is an extreme electric guitar that should be on every metal player’s wish list.”
Indeed, the KX700 EverTune is the sleekest KX series guitar in the Cort lineup, with a completely redesigned body contour with deeper cuts and newly adjusted horn cutaways that “favor a more aggressive appearance while also appealing to player comfort and dexterous playability.”
One of the key features of the guitar, as Paul points out, is right there in the name – the EverTune bridge. A revolutionary, patented, all-mechanical guitar bridge system, the EverTune maintains constant tension on each individual string, keeping the guitar in perfect tuning indefinitely.
“In other words,” Paul says, “the EverTune balances string tension to keep your guitar consistently intonated as you bend strings, and under varying temperatures and humidity changes.”
Next up on the KX700’s impressive spec sheet is the high output Seymour Duncan Sentient and Nazgûl passive humbucker set. The Nazgûl bridge pickup combines a large ceramic magnet with custom winding specs resulting in a perfect blend of note articulation, saturation, pick attack and one of the most brutal “chugs” you’ll ever hear from a humbucker, while Sentient neck ‘bucker delivers a balanced, versatile tone with pristine cleans and fluid leads under high gain.
What else do you get?
How about a mahogany body and five-piece roasted maple and walnut neck, and an ebony fretboard topped with 24 stainless steel frets? There’s also Cort staggered locking tuners, as well as Luminlay side dots, a Spoke Nut Hotrod truss rod and the new “Next Gen” Cort logo.
To see and hear the impressive package in action, just watch Paul put the KX700 through its paces in the demo video above.
“The sleek KX700 EverTune is one of the most audacious metal guitars available from Cort,” Paul says, “with cutting-edge componentry like its EverTune bridge for maximum tuning stability and premium metal-voiced pickups from Seymour Duncan for extreme metal riffing, along with optimum playability for technical playing.
“Overall the KX700 has a great, compact and taut feel ideal for metal, proving it is hard to beat.”
