Are you seeing double? So am I! It's Tommy Emmanuel and...Tommy Emmanuel in a duet with HIMSELF! If you think this might be gimmicky, well think again. Emmanuel knows how to deliver on beautifully executed acoustic performance and this one has double the goodness.
Acoustic guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel has just released a collaborative album with musicians Ian Date and Ian Cooper.Just Passing Through was released June 23, and features nine tracks of gypsy jazz, folk, and blues styles that highlight each player’s musicianship. Here’s a taste of the album in video form – an amazing clip of the group performing the standard “Honeysuckle Rose.”
Here’s a really great video featuring the guitar playing sisterly duo of Grace and Chelsea Constable. Equipped with Taylor guitars (a nylon string 214ce-N for Grace and a 714ce for Chelsea), the Constables perform an incredible tribute to the legendary Jerry Reed. “Jerry’s Breakdown” is no walk in the park for even the most seasoned of fingerstyle guitarists, but Chelsea and Grace—only 13 years old—make it look easy!
Here’s a cool video from guitarist Richard Keelin from Ashland, KY. Utilizing a thumb pick and finger style combo, Keelin digs in to a wide variety of covers with material ranging from Chet Atkins to The Beatles, Nirvana and Pharrell Williams.
Check out this candid jam featuring Tommy Emmanuel and Igor Presnyakov performing “Hit the Road Jack.” The video was posted just a week ago on Presnyakov’s YouTube channel. Emmanuel and Presnyakov come from two separate schools stylistically, but it’s great fun to watch the pair trade licks back and forth. Presnyakov leans on the classical side of things, but his playing blends perfectly against Emmanuel’s picking chops.
